The largest Medicaid-specialized managed care organization in the U.S. is offering buyout packages to most of its 60,000 or so staff workers.

Epic Systems, the market leading EHR vendor, sued California-based Epic Staffing in 2024, arguing that the company’s name created confusion in the market. The lawsuit was settled out of court, with the employment firm agreeing to a full rebrand.

If the economy were an inter-sector track meet in which AI adoption propels the runners, healthcare would be getting repeatedly lapped by financial services. 

Some of today’s most popular products promise better immune, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, gut, skin or joint health—or combinations of two or more of the above.  

Tennessee-based Xsolis said the incident occurred in January, and the sensitive data was from its clients. The company provides AI-powered case management software to hospitals and health insurers.

As the Medicare drug price negotiation program enters its fourth year next year, regulators are looking to put a set of guidelines in place that make it clear how medications are selected for inclusion and what the deliberation process will look like for biopharma companies.

The company called the state’s regulation of pharmacy benefit managers “shortsighted,” as it would force the closure of Accredo, a specialty drug dispensary that supplies drugs it says aren’t available anywhere else in the state.

It’s alleged in a lawsuit that the insurer manipulated patient diagnoses to receive higher risk-adjusted payments from MassHealth, the Medicaid program in Massachusetts. Patients with “depression” and “anxiety” were said to be labeled alongside those with more serious behavioral health issues to boost payments, in violation of the law. The insurer denies the allegations.
